FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: Is there any “get-ready” before performing?

A: No, once you have done the initial set-up of the gimmick and are wearing it, there is no “get-ready”. If someone asks you to levitate, you levitate. Simple as that!

Q: Are there angle problems with Icarus Effect?

A: Yes, Icarus Effect was originally created as a one-on-one effect, although, I have performed it for three or four people with the same degree of success. However, my personal thought is, it is more effective to do Icarus Effect for one person and allow that person to tell other people about it. In this way it becomes a legend and often in the re-telling, becomes something more spectacular than it already is. Food for thought!

Q: Can you actually do everything you see in the Demo Video for Icarus effect?

A: Yes, there are no camera tricks, everything you see in the demo is 100% achievable with Icarus Effect.

Q: Is it a lot of work to prepare the gimmick?

A: “a lot of work” is relative. If you are looking for a levitation that is ready-to-go out of the box, then I highly recommend Peter Loughran’s Elevator 2. However, if you are willing to put in some extra time and effort, to perform what (in my humble opinion) is the best practical, un-assisted self-levitation on market, then Icarus Effect is definitely for you.

Q: Is this just Fearsons Fantastic Floatation in reverse?

A: No, there is a lot more to this effect than most people think. Hence the “Space Age Material”.

Q: What about people who say that this is not your effect?

A:

That is a croc of s..t! I have spent the last ten years researching, developing, and honing Icarus Effect into the effect you see today. I have put my heart and soul into this project. To be honest, my intention, was never to release this to the magic world. However, in recent years there has been an influx of magicians on T.V. that have raised the bar of impossibility to a level that is unachievable for the live performer. At the very least I thought Icarus Effect could answer that challenge.

Q: What about people who say that Icarus effect is not worth the price tag?

A: If these people do not see the value in Icarus Effect, just by watching the video, then they never will. These people are concentrating on the wrong things, (method, what you get, will I have to put in any effort, etc.) when all that is really important, is the impression left on the spectator when they see you actually defy gravity and apparently levitate.

There are also other factors to consider! I have tried to make the preparation of your gimmick as easy as possible for you, by supplying you with the best materials for the job. This is not cheap! The “Space Age” material alone is very expensive. Another consideration is the retailer’s mark-up (40%). The bottom line is, I am trying to keep this an exclusive effect. The end result, only people who are serious about a reputation making effect, will invest the money, time, and effort and buy Icarus Effect. Mission Accomplished!
